The idea for the bracelet first came from looking at historical examples of hand armour.

The Mughal dastana (hand armour) was a form of protective gauntlet worn by Mughal soldiers and nobles, particularly in the 16th–18th centuries.

They typically covered the forearm, wrist, and back of the hand, often extending into articulated finger guards linked with small rings. Usually made of steel plates or chain mail, some versions were engraved with floral or geometric Mughal motifs.

The shape and structure of the bracelet has been fashioned on the chain mail that would attach to the bottom of Mughal helmets, which was jagged in form to allow it to drape naturally around the neck and shoulders to provide better protection.

The gemstones and crystals on the bracelet have been placed to give a sword-like appearance, with a central rhombus of gems at the top, flowing straight down in a straight line to form the shape of a blade.

Only the finest materials have been used for this unique piece. This bracelet has been heavily knitted with a number of gemstones, whose colours give an antique feel. Smoky quartz, peridot, labradorite and garnet are amongst them, with freshwater grey pearls placed along the jagged edges. Similar colours in crystal have been used to give the appearance of inlaid gems. Antique clear-crystal, black-diamond, antique-khaki and smoked topaz colours feature.

The piece has been hand knitted in the purest of fine silver wire, which has a higher content of pure silver than even sterling silver, and is less prone to tarnish. It attaches to the finger with a sterling silver ring and to the wrist with an adjustable sliding ball and chain.
