Midnight Slayer /Silver Brooch
A burst of colour in enamelled copper & yarn - this brooch is delicately hand crocheted & hand stitched using a mixed media of gold-plated copper wire, luxury hand-dyed yarn and crystal.
This brooch was designed in collaboration with knitwear designer Julie Dubreux, based in Paris, France. She has featured it in her Autumn2020 shawl design 'Midnight Slayer'.
The luxury yarn used for this design is 100% merino singles, hand-dyed in the UK by indie dyer Skeinqueen .
Her sultry blend of grey, burgundy, khaki and cream are like the moonlight filtering through a eerie midnight sky.
The inner circle is hand crocheted with double entwined copper wires in gold. The wire-work is accented with crystals in light grey opal, and antique-gold glass beads nestled at the centre, like constellations twinkling in the dark night sky.
The outer circle is hand crocheted with luxury yarn and stitched to a silver frame, giving a nice contrast to the gold wire above.
The brooch measures 3.5cm in diameter.
These pieces are made with specialist hand-dyed yarn, which may not always be available, so they are made in small quantities, and would therefore be limited in number.
The wire colour may vary slightly depending on the reel batch, and how the yarn colours fall within the piece may vary depending on which part of the yarn I start crocheting with, but any variation will be very slight.
The crystals will be identical to the sample image. However, if you would prefer a different colour crystal, let me know in the comments section on checkout and I can swap them over for you.
