Mumtaz Mahal Necklace - Evergreen

An elegant adornment in hues of deep forest green, pale green, light-brown and burgundy. This necklace has been delicately hand crocheted and hand stitched using a mixed media of double-entwined enamelled copper wires, luxury hand-dyed yarn and swarovski crystal.

This crescent style of necklace was a popular shape frequently worn by Mughal royalty, commonly made in gold, the outer-edges studded with colourful precious gems. The name of this design is dedicated to the beautiful persian princess Mumtaz, in whose honour the Taj Mahal was built after her death, by grief-stricken husband, Emperor Shah Jahan.

The luxury yarn used for this design is hand dyed by indie dyer Uschitita, who is based in the Netherlands. This pure merino yarn encompasses shades of forest green, pale green, gold, burgundy and amethyst, reminiscent of colours you encounter on a woodland walk.

The outer border is hand crocheted with double entwined copper wires in shades of amethyst and leaf-green, embellished with crystals in burgundy, purple, olive, khaki and pale caramel to match the yarn.

The necklace sits on an aubergine leather cord, finished with sterling silver clasp and sterling silver extender chain. A purple swarovski drop pendant and sterling silver heart adorns the extender chain.

The piece measures 18" (46cm) extending to 19.5" (50cm).

These pieces are made with specialist hand-dyed yarn, so are made in small quantities, and would therefore be limited in number.

This is a made-to-order item, so please allow at least 3 weeks for delivery for UK & Europe, and 6 weeks for USA & Worldwide.

This necklace will come packaged in a beautiful customised silver jewellery box, perfect if buying as a gift.

This item will be shipped by Signed for/Special Delivery.
